You know, the refrigerator holds the answer to many of life's questions. Like, "if you could have anything in the world right now, what would it be?" What's in the fridge, of course! Or, "darn, this cereal tastes pretty bland on its own ... what should I add?" Milk, from the fridge! Or "what time is it?"

Yeah, that's right. The fridge can tell you what time it is.

It's time to do some grocery shopping. Otherwise, it's lemonade & yogurt for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Anyway, what else is new? Merlin is in great hands with his new owners, and is apparently learning Spanish. He says "quiero cookie" to get treats. His new mother was very gracious in letting me come over to see him.

He's still as sweet as ever, and it was great to cuddle him one more time.

Bikes! Bikes! Bikes! Matt Sieving [spelling corrected; my apologies, Matt] and a couple fellas from the law school went out for a leisurely bike ride yesterday, and the weather couldn't been sweeter. It was 75 degrees by mid-day, and not a cloud in the sky.

The view from the top of our climb.

Like I said, it was a pretty perfect day. What could possibly top it?

Today was the first day of the magnificent Tour of California! There were THOUSANDS of people out to view the 1.9 mile prologue course, and the very best names in cycling were out to throw down.

T-Mobile definitely wins sexiest color scheme. These bikes were rad.

One of the coolest things about cycling is how accessible it is. Although the large crowds are starting to make it necessary for teams to put up more barriers between fans and riders, the whole place is still very open, and it's very easy to meet the cyclists themselves. This is especially true in the case of new teams, like BMC. This guy here is John Garcia, a new rider who was willing to pose for the action shot.

Like I said, there aren't many barriers between the fans and the stars. Here's John again, warming up before the TT, sharing the roads with regular old cars.

Zach Papas, a Cal triathlete, bumped into me randomly near the start, so we found a place to watch the action, and popped a squat.

That's Ivan Basso, baby. Hell yeah. Watch for this guy to wear the Yellow Jersey all the way to Paris.

And of course, I saved the best for last. Dave Z takes the "action shot" to a whole new level ... and I didn't even have to ask him to pose! Unfortunately, Zabriskie didn't go on to win the day. He took 14th place, just ten seconds behind the winner, California's own Levi Leipheimer! This is gonna be a great race.
